Ten terms. One sentence or two each.
- Central agency
- An agreement under which one brokerage, the central agent, has primary responsibility for marketing a yacht for sale, coordinating co-brokers, handling enquiries and viewings, and representing the seller.
- Open listing
- An agreement under which the owner allows several brokers to market the yacht at the same time. It often leads to several versions of the same listing with different details.
- Co-broker
- A broker representing a buyer, or another brokerage that shares the listing with its clients, while the central agent keeps the mandate.
- Days on market
- How long a yacht has been listed for sale. Buyers read a long figure as a question, so a listing should give them a reason to look again.
- Listing relaunch
- Bringing a stalled listing back to market as if it were new: an honest diagnosis, one argument, current material, a single address and a planned sequence of contacts.
- Price reduction
- A new asking figure. It earns renewed attention only if buyers notice it and understand why the yacht is now worth a viewing.
- General arrangement (GA)
- The deck plans of a yacht. Buyers use it to test the impression from photography against the actual layout.
- Mandate review
- A review before a central agency agreement ends: what happened during the period, in figures, and what the broker proposes next.
- Personal link
- A link to the yacht website issued to one recipient, so the broker sees when that person opens it and what they read.
- Owner report
- A regular view for the owner of what buyers are doing: visits, sources, enquiries and recorded viewings, without buyer names.
